Intro to Healfire
In a chilling land
a family of sages
taught Fynlar a spell
for his curiosity
and a burning will to learn.
It was a rare sight.
Fynlar, lacking the training,
cast Healfire at ease.
The flames spread but did not burn,
and his family stayed warm.
As Fynlar grew up,
he kept his flames a secret
outside of his home.
When the forest faced wildfires,
he saved the village of trees.
One day, Fynlar learned
that Healfire could cure disease.
When his brother Holm
contracted a severe flu,
Fynlar’s spell quelled the illness.
Fynlar’s brother Holm
wanted to test his brother,
and this was his plan.
He bid half of his household
into the winter-swept woods.
Holm tricked two cousins
telling them Fynlar was lost
and they must find him.
The cold made his cousins ill
and Holm left them in the woods.
Then Holm returned home
Fynlar asked of his travels
and their two cousins.
Holm told Fynlar they were sick
and lost in the wilderness.
So, Fynlar ventured
through the blistering madness
of an evening storm.
There he found his two cousins
frostbitten and nearly dead.
Fynlar cast Healfire
providing much needed warmth
for his family.
As they made their way homeward
his cousins told him the truth.
When Fynlar returned
to confront his brother Holm
no one believed him.
Not even his two cousins
defended Fynlar’s story.
Fynlar was exiled,
falsely accused of leading
his cousins to death.
The warmth of Healfire soothed them
as Fynlar braved the winter.
