Oslo the Viking

Oslo the viking,
son of Gringlock and Luna,
apprenticed raiders.
Finding them to be violent,
he stole their gold and vessel.

Rowing on his own,
the young Oslo crashed his way
to shore in Denmark.
Fynlar the magic healer
found Oslo wounded and ill.

A humble cloth tent
exposed by the ocean winds
gave Oslo shelter.
Fynlar cast the spell healfire
and its warmth made Oslo well.

When the young viking
gained his senses once again,
his mat lay in flames.
It burned nothing in its path,
and it radiated joy.

Oslo found the man
who used magic to save him
from slow certain death.
Fynlar said to him, "You're up,
good. Now, about your vessel."

Oslo said to him,
"You'll know I am a viking,
I will not hurt you.
I left behind violent men
who called themselves vikings too."

Fylnar responded,
"You say you are a viking,
I am not concerned.
I mean to say your vessel
did not survive your landing."

Fynlar taught Oslo
how to grow from his failures
with perseverance.
Oslo was soon earning gold
working for the humble sage.

Oslo thanked Fynlar,
"If fate grants me some kindness,
I will pay you back."
Fynlar said, "Your heart is well.
There is no better payment."

Oslo made Denmark
the foundation for his home
and built a life there.
Missing the sea, he set out
looking for loyal crewmates.

When he found nine men
he hoped Fynlar would join him,
but the sage refused.
"I won't challenge the ocean,
but return if your wounds sting."

Oslo the viking
set out with a ten man crew
to explore Iceland.
He said, "Let's go see the place
where the great Fynlar grew up!"
